I’ve been working with Alex for nearly five years, but our journey started long before that - I’d been having my hair done by her since I was little. One day, she offered me a trial day for a hairdressing apprenticeship in the salon where she was renting a chair… and I got the job!

From day one I was hands-on, loving every minute. When Alex opened her own salon, I was right there beside her every step of the way. I started taking on my own blow-dry clients, then moved into colours and cuts, and I absolutely loved running my own column.

After qualifying, I began building my own incredible clientele - sometimes even working in the salon by myself. I went on to complete a curly blow course and a hair extension course with Alex, and now I’m thriving - fully booked, week in and week out, months in advance!

I now specialise in all aspects of hair and extensions, and I even help Alex run courses. She takes me to business and educational events, and we still regularly do new colour training together. I’m so excited for what the future holds for me here at The Studio!

I joined the team at the start of the year, already qualified with my NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing. Since becoming full-time here, I’ve completed Alex’s Curly Blowdry, Style & Finish, Three Method Hair Extension, and Pin-Up courses.

Since then, I’ve been thriving - building my clientele, creating content for the salon, and running our socials. I specialise in occasion hair, along with all aspects of hairdressing, and I absolutely love what I do.

In just eight months, I’ve grown so much as a stylist, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for me at The Studio!

I’m Alex Baynes - a self-employed stylist at The Studio, and a proud mam to my gorgeous 2-year-old, Ariella. I currently work Thursdays and Fridays, but with Ariella starting preschool soon, I’m excited to return full time.

I’ve been a hairdresser for 8 years and part of The Studio family for 4. While I work with all hair types, my most requested services are blonding, reverse balayages, and extensions. I’m passionate about keeping my skills fresh and up to date, so you’ll often find me on courses and learning new techniques from other talented stylists in the industry.

I’m motivated for what’s ahead and can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new faces into my chair!
